A Competency Assessment Program is a structured assessment process by which a trainee’s knowledge and skills are measured against the requirements of the competency standards. The standards are work-based with most of the required evidence of competency coming from the trainee’s performance at work. Competency assessments therefore ensure that trainees are competent within the workplace.
