Plant Information (PI) Management System
PI is a set of software modules for plant-wide
monitoring and analysis. PI obtains real-time and historical data from the
plant's Distributed Control System (DCS) and other control instrumentation
equipment.
The data obtained, in the form of graphical presentation, trends and
spreadsheet,
are accessible to all users connected to the Local Area Network (LAN). Users
can then apply the required computations to a set of raw data for meaningful
use.
Amongst the key advantages of utilising PI are as follows:
Lumut On-Line Performance Model
Following the implementation of the Lumut Advance Realtime Information
System
(LARIS) in 1999, TJSB has collaborated with Thermoflow Inc, USA to
jointly
develop an online plant performance model for LPP. The Lumut On-line
Performance
Model (LPP-PM) application enables plant operators to assess plant
performance
on-line as well as to monitor plant degradation. The LPP-PM was installed
in late 1999 and is being continuously improved to further enhance the
model's
accuracy and efficiency.
Similar tools are being undertaken at the two sites of the Centralised
Utilities Facility.
